Brazil after 1-0 against Peru in the Copa America final

Brazil has set the course for a possible dream final against Argentina and defeated Peru in the semi-finals of the Copa America. The Selecao around superstar Neymar won the game at the "Estadio Nilton Santos" in Rio de Janeiro on Monday evening (local time) with 1:0 (1:0). The goal was scored by former Flamengo player Lucas Paqueta of Olympique Lyon in the 34th minute after Neymar samba had danced with the Peruvian defence.

The result could have been even higher. Brazil dominated especially in the first half, in the second half the Selecao let up a bit. Peruvian goalkeeper Pedro Gallese saved several times, against Neymar and Richarlison (18th).

The Peruvians initially had few chances to score in the new edition of the final of 2019, which the Selecao had won 3-1. But they came out of the booth stronger and shortly before the end of the game Alexander Callens almost equalized to 1:1.

In the second semi-final of the South American Championship, Argentina's selection of superstar Lionel Messi will face Colombia on Tuesday (local time). The final is scheduled for July 10 at the legendary Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro. Brazil wants to defend the title in their own country, has an increasingly dangerous goalscorer in Neymar and currently leads with six wins from six games also in the qualifying group for the 2022 World Cup.

Messi, who is currently without a club due to his expired contract with FC Barcelona, led Argentina to the semi-finals and finally wants to win an international title with the national team. Argentina's record goalscorer also chases Pele as the leader in statistics at the Copa America. The Argentine team won the Copa America for the last time in 1993.
